Word of the day for Tuesday, September 24th

I’m not much of a morning person. I don’t think a person needs to be a morning person, however, to realize that the old chestnut “It’s always darkest just before dawn” is complete nonsense. It’s not darkest just before dawn. It’s

ughten just before dawn. Ughten is the word for twilight just before the break of day, and it’s pronounced “oog ten,” not “ugh ten.” “Ugh… ten” is probably what I would say if somebody tried to wake me up at ughten. I’d also probably throw in a grawlix or two for good measure.
