You know that feeling you get when you see that little dachshund puppy in the hot dog bun, or a hamster eating spaghetti, or a quokka doing pretty much anything? That feeling where you want to pinch something or squeeze something or bite something? The Tagalog language has a word for that.
Gigil*: the urge to pinch or squeeze something that is unbearably cute. Thank you, Tagalog. I need to scream now.
*UPDATE: I believe it is pronounced as if you were saying “giggle” and were being tickled just as you got to the second syllable. Confirmation on this would be appreciated, however.
