Etiquette & superstition: the piano

I took piano lessons for five years in my youth. Maybe it wasn’t a waste of time and money, but I still can’t play the piano.

ETIQUETTE: It is not necessary to tip your piano tuner, but he/she will appreciate a simple offer of a beverage or non-crumbly snack. Piano tuning is a long process. It is not necessary to tip your piano teacher at Christmastime, unless he/she is one of your four favorite servicepeople. Cookies are acceptable currency in this instance. You should always tip your piano mover. With money.

SUPERSTITION: If you play the piano before breakfast, you will soon hear something about yourself that will make you go insane.
