It’s Sunday funnies time again here at Fancy Notions with my book of Peanuts comics translated into French. Today’s punchline basically means “That latch wasn’t very strong.” Kind of a dud joke there, though it’s possible that this is just a case of the humor getting lost in translation. Philipp Lenssen (via neatorama) tried a similar experiment with Garfield comics and actually got funnier results than the original comics provided. Why is its I has corn’s sudden craving, indeed.
I do feel that this particular Peanuts comic has a great deal of educational value despite the crap punchline, however. The third panel shows us that Snoopy owns one white dueling glove. Also, dogs eat apples.
